A cross cut clean through heavy-gauge steel, lit from inside the fixture so the shape reads dark against a washed wall. Made one at a time in Fort Lauderdale, in runs sized for a building rather than a room.

What it does on a wall

The fixture throws light upward and downward, not outward. That matters in a sanctuary: the wall carries the glow, the cross sits in silhouette against it, and nobody in the pews is looking into a bulb. Down a side aisle, a row of them reads as rhythm rather than as a line of lamps.

It is a cut, not a print. The design is an opening in the steel plate, so there is no decal to lift and no printed panel to fade. Nothing about it changes with age except the finish.

Where these tend to go: sanctuary side walls, the narthex, an entry portico, a memorial garden or columbarium wall, the parish hall, a chapel of repose. Indoors or out — the same fixture does both.

Order the whole run at once

This is the one piece of advice worth taking seriously. Powder coat is mixed and cured in batches, and colour can vary slightly between production runs. Fixtures made together match each other exactly. Fixtures ordered a year apart may not.

If the plan is eight down the nave and two at the entrance, order ten now rather than eight now and two later. It costs less and they will match.

Which size

The small suits a narthex, a hallway, a chapel of modest scale, or anywhere the congregation passes close to it. The large is the one for a sanctuary wall, a high ceiling or an exterior portico — anywhere it is read from across a room. On a tall wall a small fixture disappears.

A note on installation

These are hardwired fixtures. Use a qualified electrician where local code requires one, and check that the outlet box is metal and rated for the weight before the day of installation — it is the one thing that holds up a job. Allow about thirty minutes per fixture.
